Dossier · The Author
Yuriy Vasylyuk
Yuriy Vasylyuk writes hard, character-driven science fiction at the seam where cynical survival meets cosmic design.
The Mirror Layer opens Intervention, his series about the people who pass through the Rusting Haven — the last station before the long dark — and the greater plan that passes through them. His interest is less in the hardware of the far future than in what it does to the people standing next to it: what a supervisory framework looks like from inside the chair it was built to reassure, and what a machine does with a human plan once it has read it properly.
He publishes each book himself and carries every language edition across by hand — twelve editions and counting, each checked line by line against the original so that Helen Stance sounds exactly as furious in every one.
